Trip 125 - Sunday - Nov 8th
Yesterday and today were just plain beautiful. Unseasonable for this time of the year in "Minnesota".
Well, I decided it was a good day for a drive and went down to run some oil into the (one) cylinder I have and make sure the plastic wrap is still wrapping. Stopped at the gas station "gas" - why isn't it a "liquid station"?) for some gas and a qt of oil (I forgot back home).
Last trip if you remember, I spent alot of time cleaning but forgot the camera. This time, I did not ...

One of the last barges up or down the river. Drab forage, but crisp and kinda pretty.

A fellow in Sweden called these "Flying Rats". As, they eat anything, and what goes in, sooner or later, comes out. Usually on his boat.
Time to head south fellas ...

I untied the rope Marcia and I threw on the cover and fetched some cheap clothesline from the hardware store to do a bit better job.
I contacted the folks who wrapped it last year and they were supposed to stop by and wrap the front and back. I will remind them tomorrow. .

I got up on the ladder and stretched the plastic across the mast front to back. Then tied both ends pretty good for stability for the rest. For the most part, where the plastic wrapped around a certain features last year, it found that same feature this year.

This rug has been used for the season year now. I like to think, the little angels help keep me safe while perched ten feet up.

My mother always thought I was such a bright bulb. Well after all these times straddling the cleats I thought, why not lay some layers of a towel between them and me.

I fed some line up and over to each stanchion to provide support for a heavy snow.

I cut a plastic cup to size and used it to feed oil into the Primer.

The red Primer comes out. It is a 1/4" or so barrel about an inch long with an O-Ring at the end. One takes it out, pours oil into the chamber and plunges the Primer back in. This forces the oil up a passage and into the air intake and flows down to the intake valve.
The normal use for this is to make it easier to start when the engine is cold. The oil will make the initial compression higher and after it starts, it burns right along with the diesel.
I used it to get 3-4x of oil into the cylinder. After each fill I released the compression and spun the engine over a few times.

Where to fill. The little cup worked out just fine.

Just some clean engine images.

No flash ...

With flash.

It has been a while for my Signature Image. Those of you following these ramblings, use your imagination.

Going home. Wrap the front and back and all set for winter now.
And, really nice and clean inside.
Later ...
