Trip 113 - Tuesday Evening - Sept 22nd

Now, the nuts are ground down, time to get all four in place and line things up.

Guess who showed up and I had some bread. It looks like they are standing on the water, but they are not. Just the flash getting thru the water and lighting the footsies up.

I propped the front of the engine in the air by a 2x2. Then, snuck the mounts in place.

I thought of laying the 2x2 to the other side, and toss a piece of line under the transmission shaft. Lift the whole works up, and sneak a mount under each side.

In place.

All mounts now have their second holes drilled. If, the lag bolts do not hold, I will drill some 2 1/2" holes next to the bottom of the plywood inside and from underneath, run stainless machine bolts that will hold the mounts to the rails just fine.

All set ...

Real easy to level an engine and line it up to the shaft.

Get all four mounts under the engine.

Level the front of the engine laterally by using a level at the companionway, Then, get the rear of the transmission on a single point as well and make certain the rear engine mount nuts under the engine are as low as they can go, and maximize the amount of play.

When the engine is level to the vessel, run the rear nuts up to the bottom of their ears and stop. Remove the thing bracing it in the air and now your mounts are even one to the other as far as weight supported.

Now be very careful to raise or lower the front or the back, side by side the same amount of turns. And, if engine has to be lower on one side than the other, adjust the nuts on the same side the same number of turns.

Time to go home and get some rest. Will put a wrap on this next time.

Later ...
