Trip 112 - Sunday - Sept 20th

Time to go back down and see if the new minimum height is low enough.

Tonight's Instruments of Terror .

Have to drill out the 1/2" holes to 11/16".

I placed a crescent wrench under the bit so when the bit was almost thru, and corkscrewed into the hole, it would hit steel not fibreglas.

One down, three to go.

Set in place ...

I found the front mounts as provided could not get low enough. I decided to take the nut that would normal be underneath and grind them to half the thickness.

After telling others, I was reminded "Will the nut, being half as thick, support the engine?".

The Answer?

Of course ...

Total engine weight wet is about 180#. Four mounts, gives us 45# per mount. Plus or minus the vibration etc ...

Thinning down that nut, will easily support 45#.

Four nuts, half as thick. The next day, I carefully sanded the corners a bit round and the tips of the hexagonal points.

5" Grinder, 36grit 3M Disc, 5,000rpm.

Jon - Bleeding ...

Been a long time since I wore a BandAid all day and night for a week. Shoulda had stitches, but, no time and I did not want to set there while an MD reprimanded me to be more careful. I was careful. The Grinder was not.
