At Home - Sunday & Monday Evening - June 21st / 22nd
Just dropped Marcia at the airport. One more Conjugal Visit for The Books. Yesterday was spent preparing for and attending the wedding of nephew Sam and his new bride, Kristina. A really nice couple and we wish them well.
I still had one sail to wash and have ignored it since last fall, so I thought I would tackle that task. Besides, there were some good movies on tv while it soaked or drained.
Then, on Monday night, I converted the kitchen into Engine Central again and readied it for painting the parts. Now I have to find the small paintbrush and I will be all set.

One tub full of water. By my estimate, about one hundred gallons to the upper drain.

A bit yellow lighting, but a small example of how dirty it was. In that lukewarm water, I add a bit more than a pint of Dawn detergent. My favorite.

Note how icky the water got. This is pretty close to the real world.

I am fortunate to have a shower enclosure right next door and it works great to drain the water off the cloth and the floor does not get dripping wet.

The inside of the shower.

The first is for soap and water. Drain. Fill with hot water and add a gallon of bleach. (1% Solution). Drain. Rinse and drain twice in cold water. And a final rinse in hot.

I hang it from the loft. Note the sail is a 170% and it is actually folded in half. It came out very well indeed.

Instruments of Torture for this evening.

When I removed the compression post, I got a bit brutal and some of the edge splintered off. Epoxy to the rescue and the biggest battery I have to weight it down. Waxed paper underneath.
Sand it down, fix some holes with bungs and three coats of Captain's varnish will bring it back to life. I will add some extra ply inside to help where the teak has softened due to age and damp.

Look familiar?

I will prime any bare steel and then paint all. Some pieces like this one need a bit of prep first tho.
Later ...
