Home - Wed/Thursday Evening - May 27/28th

I continued to run-in the engine at home.

For those of you who think my diet needs some help with Marcia gone, I will put your fears to rest.

I have Gourmet Mushroom Pieces and Stems from Green Giant, Sams Club Cheapo Noodles, Prego and lots in the fridge. I try to make at least ten containers at a time. Lots easier.

I can whup up a batch in the time it takes to shower, dress, make toast, eggs and sausage. Not bad ...

Still smoking too much.

Since I first got it running Monday night, I have learned ...

- Make certain the head is torqued down properly
- After a little while running, check the tappets for clearance. My valves really settled in and -that- caused alot of white smoke to happen.
- Put a rug under the box so it does not crack the concrete slab.
- For the first hour, use a thinner oil and discard it. Then, use oil for diesel engines. Usually a 15w40 weight.

And, after the engine comes up to temperature, it will purr like a kitten full of warm cream ... And absolutely no smoke. Amazing to watch.

Now I will retorque the head and re-set the tappets. Tear off loose parts and paint it a nice blue. The moving parts will be yellow and any lettering, red. The pipes and bronze and fasteners I am trying to clearcoat them.

Tonight, life is good ...

Later ...
